Pittsburgh Child Support Lawyers

Keeping the Focus Where it Belongs

Unfortunately, child support payments sometimes become just one more thing couples fight about during a divorce. However, it is crucial that the child receives adequate financial support, regardless of the parents' feelings about each other. At Gentile, Horoho & Avalli, P.C., we help everyone focus on the fact that child support is the right of the child, not the parents.

Our Pittsburgh child support attorneys represent people who are determining or modifying support orders. We have extensive experience in all areas of family law, including complex support for couples with a high net worth.

Calculating Child Support

Pennsylvania child support guidelines apply to couples with a net income of less than $30,000 per month. Guidelines also apply to couples with net income in excess of $30,000 per month, but pursuant to a formula based calculation. The guidelines are based on factors that include:

  • The income of each parent
  • The number of children
  • The number of overnight visits each parent has with the children

In addition, parents must determine how much each will pay for health insurance, other medical expenses, child care expenses and any extracurricular or recreational activities.

An experienced lawyer can help you gather the right financial, tax, child care and health care information to accurately calculate child support payments. Having the correct information and legal representation can help ensure that you pay or receive the right amount of support.

If the financial circumstances of a parent change or the needs of the child change, you may request a modification of your child support order. We represent parents seeking or contesting child support modification. In addition, we assist parents with enforcement of court-ordered child support.
