Cappella Named Secretary of American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers – PA Chapter
Kerri Lee Cappella, a principal in the Pittsburgh-based family law firm of Gentile, Horoho & Avalli, P.C., has been appointed to the position of Pennsylvania Chapter Secretary of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML), effective July 1.
In this capacity, Ms. Cappella will join the chapter’s Board of Managers. Additionally, she will continue to serve on the AAML Pennsylvania Chapter Board of Examiners and Co-Chair its Program Committee.
Founded in 1962, the AAML consists of 1,650 attorneys nationwide whose mission is to provide leadership that promotes the highest degree of professionalism and excellence in the practice of family law. AAML Fellows are generally recognized by judges and attorneys as preeminent family law practitioners with a high level of knowledge, skill, and integrity.
Ms. Cappella’s practice focuses exclusively in the area of matrimonial law. In addition to being a Fellow of the AAML, Ms. Cappella is a member of the National Advocates Top 100 Lawyers in Family Law and was a charter member of the Allegheny County Chapter of the Matrimonial Inns of Court. In 2019, Philadelphia Magazine selected Ms. Cappella as one of the “Top 50 Attorneys in Pittsburgh” and in 2012 the same publication honored her among the “Top 50 Women Attorneys in Pennsylvania.” She has also been named to Best Lawyers in America every year since 2011 and has been named a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer every year since 2009.
She holds her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Penn State University and her Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
