The enforcement of support is taken very seriously by the Courts throughout Pennsylvania. Even a very cursory review of a basic support order sets forth the power and authority the Court has to seek enforcement of the base monthly support payment as well as other terms and provisions of the Order. This includes such things as provisions for medical insurance, sharing of extracurricular expenses, contributions to unreimbursed medical expenses, etc.
The Court has the authority to garnish wages, intercept tax refunds and lottery winnings, report parties to credit bureaus, deny passports, suspend licenses, and even freeze and seize their assets.
Failure to meet support obligations can even result in jail.
