The Guardian of the Estate for an incapacitated person or minor handles all of the financial assets of that individual, pays their bills, makes, and monitors investments. Since the Guardian of the Estate has economic control, it is important they also have experience in handling such matters. For that reason, a corporate fiduciary is sometimes used as Guardian of the Estate. Pennsylvania law prohibits the parents of a minor from being the sole Guardian of the Estate of their minor child but a parent may serve with another party.
