Paternity

In Pennsylvania, paternity is the way to establish legal fatherhood. When a child is born out of wedlock, there is no legal relationship between the father and the child.

If a support action seeks support for a child born out of wedlock, paternity must be acknowledged or established before the alleged father will be named in a support action.  Paternity may be established when an Acknowledgement of Paternity form is signed, through genetic testing, or through other legal means.

Establishing or disestablishing paternity can be emotional for both parties in a paternity action. Our attorneys are highly skilled and trained to help you navigate through the process and obtain a timely result.
